This is for all of us, and the intention is to:

• Support one another and build meaningful creative relationships and to have fun!

• Share ideas around theory, influences, current events, and questions emerging from our practices

• To offer thoughtful feedback, questions, and perspectives

• Share material processes, experimentation, resources, and knowledge

• Make connections and create opportunities for collaboration

• Talk honestly about the ways we are living, working, and building creative ecosystems that support our careers

• Share challenges, motivations, discoveries, and possibilities

• Create a space where artists can think together about the questions shaping contemporary creative production today

There are no obligations or costs, and the group will be between 6-12 artists

BKLYN Contemporary Gallery and Studio MH is a place to create a space for work to be seen and creative contemporary conversations to be heard.

For me, the most interesting conversations in the world are with artists about why and how their ideas are being manifested, materially, in the present moment.

The real practice of the artist is a way of being in the world, and to share that perspective in community.

Our generation is bringing new forms of imagery into the world that are rethinking contemporary imagery, questions about the creative path, and the evolving role of painting and materiality.

BKLYN Contemporary Gallery and Studio MH is a place for creative production and contemporary conversations.

It is a Studio and Gallery space for painters to share ideas, work, and conversation, with a focus on contemporary topics, questions, and the evolving role of painting and materiality.

My intention is to build an authentic, intentional community around what we are making, what we are thinking about, and what we are responding to in our lives and in the world around us, and to explore ways we can shape that conversation through art.

The creative act is a way of being in the world, and I am opening my studio to make a space for us to share that experience within community

First Meeting

The intention is to build an authentic, intentional community around what we are making, what we are thinking about, and what we are responding to in our lives and in the world around us and to explore ways we can shape that conversation through art. The format is open and relaxed. 

We have assembled small group of artists with work and questions that we believe are important and excited about!

 

THE FIRST MEETING:

Date/Time: Our first meeting will be on October 10th 5pm-8pm. RSPV is required.

For the first meeting:

  1. Every artist is invited (optional)to bring one artwork as a way to introduce yourself and the reasons you create. 

  2. For this first gathering, you are welcome to bring another artist or friend who you think would contribute to the conversation.

  3. Please RSVP to any of the dates on the calendar. I will follow up with the dates that work for the majority of the group and send details for our first two meetings.

Second Meeting

Two artists are invited or volunteer to bring unfinished work or work in progress, ask questions, workshop ideas, material experiments, or whatever something they are thinking about!

There is a lit gallery wall available to hang and share finished or unfinished work as a starting point for conversation, feedback, and intellectual exchange.

  • For those of you who are not New York based, we would still love to have you in the conversation. We can set up a Zoom connection so that you can participate remotely.

The format

Sessions are approximately 2.5 hours:

• Arrival / chill

• Artist presentation

• Structured conversation

• Closing question

• Food, wine or tea
